Programme Objective

Designed for audit working paper preparers with limited or no practical audit experience, PAW – AWP 1 aims to provide practical guidance in the application of the audit concepts and audit documentation requirements. Using a case study audit of a Singapore incorporated company, the participant will be able to better understand how to apply the relevant audit procedures and the documentation requirement and also be exposed to common audit exceptions. This will enable the primary reviewers, and eventually the Audit Partner responsible; to better understand the audit work performed and address any audit exceptions highlighted by the preparer on a timely basis.

Programme Outline

At the end of the 6-day PAW–AWP 1, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the role, ethical and professional requirements and responsibilities of the various levels of audit engagement team members;

  • Understand the key audit concepts and requirements through the various audit case study examples:

  • Audit evidence

  • Audit materiality

  • Audit documentation;

  • Understand the objective of work paper preparation, including recommended practices in work paper preparation, and apply the audit documentation techniques;

  • Understand and apply the relevant audit concepts and documentation techniques while performing the audit procedures in the following areas:

  • Cash

  • Property, plant and equipment

  • Loans

  • Trade and other receivables

  • Investments

  • Inventories

  • Trade and other payables

  • Income tax payable and deferred tax liabilities

  • Profit and loss accounts (revenue, cost of sales and operating expenses)

  • Understand and apply the concept of audit procedures and documentation requirements in relation to the audit completion process; and

  • Understand and be able to help improve the overall audit efficiency and effectiveness by assisting in the audit planning process and highlighting audit exceptions for resolution by the senior engagement team members, where applicable.

Intended For

PAW – AWP 1 workshop is specially designed for audit working paper preparers with little or no practical audit experience to equip themselves with the necessary audit knowledge and understanding of the audit documentation requirements.

Written assessments will be conducted during mid and end of workshop.

Rescheduling of Assessment Date
Participants can request for a rescheduling of assessment date. An administrative fee of $53.50 (including GST) will be payable. This fee will be waived if the rescheduling is due to medical or compassionate reason. Please provide relevant supporting documents.

Participants who do not score an overall pass for the assessments can request for a re-assessment within 7 working days from the last day of the course. An administrative fee of $107.00 (including GST) will be payable. A re-assessment will be arranged within 14 working days from the last day of the course. Participants may attempt the re-assessment once only.

Upon completion of the program, certificate will be issued manually by ISCA. ISCA members are required to enter the training records into Membership portal for audit purposes.

WDA Training Grant (Applicable for company-sponsored employees only)

Step 1: Apply for Training Grant and Absentee Payroll

Employers can apply via the SkillsConnect system to obtain training grant for course fees and funding for absentee payroll. You may submit the Training Grant application within the period from 30 days before the course start date to 30 days after course start date. Step 2: Claim Training Grant

(Note: Your training grant application must be approved before you can submit a claim for it.)  

After the course has ended, you need to submit a claim for it. Your claim must be submitted no later than 120 days after course end date. Please click here to claim for training grant via the SkillsConnect system.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for the WDA training grant

Please note that companies must fulfil the following criteria before claiming training grant:

  • Company must have paid for all necessary training expenses to the training organisation  

  • Trainee(s) must be Singapore Citizen(s) or Permanent Resident(s) of Singapore, and must be employed by companies in accordance to the Employment Act except for sole proprietors, partners, working directors, members of co-operatives or commission-based agents.

  • Trainee(s) must have achieved at least 75% attendance

  • Trainee(s) must have sat for and passed the examinations/ assessments where applicable
